All About Me

Hi, My name is Hollie Pollard, aka the Common Cents Mom.

Well I probably have lots in common with many who will visit here. I am a woman on a mission. My mission here is to share the story of one mom and how I save  in ways that make sense and save me cents. I will also share stories of the community I love dearly. I write from the perspective of a Muslim mother.

I am  also a  parent raising a special needs child. I blog, tweet, and look for great deals and great brands that can help me spend less. I do review products and websites that my readers would find useful. I love when I can share a great tool, brand or site that is great on the budget.

As a Muslim woman I am about avoiding interest at all costs, avoiding debt as much possible, making sure I am giving to others, and still finding ways to thrive in this world.

I have known the riches of wealth and the lows of poverty. I have been homeless with a newborn in tow, made due with welfare, and clawed my way off the system. At one time I was married and owned 5 homes and even a ranch. I know first had what it means to begin again with nothing. I have survived divorce, fire and a natural disaster  and know what each can do to a person and their pocket book. I now earn a middle income wage.

I have lived in may cities both in Canada and the USA. I have spent at least a year in the following cities or towns: Toronto ( the city of my birth and where  I spent 10 yrs as an adult), Montreal, Truro,Winnipeg( my university years), Brandon(my childhood), Vancouver,Halifax, New Glasgow, and Hamilton. In the US I have lived in Los Angeles, CA and in Carlsbad NM. I have experienced both the big city and the small town. Right now I write from Toronto. I have lived here off and on since I was born. My family has a long history here in Toronto and well I just love the city of my birth so I had to come home.

Yes Bob I am. For those of you who don’t know earlier this year I was thinking I could re-embrance Christianity. It seems God had other plans. I am a practicing Muslim.

    Hi Hollie!

I love your blog, you’re doing a great job sharing your experiences and tips for people looking to save money.

I was wondering what resources you’ve found for people without credit cards. I’ve found coupons and pricedodger.com has interac for daily deals now, but I’m still looking for more.

    Can you help? Thank you!
